Welcome

HBWC is a great club for networking. The Club is made up of women who are business owners, in employment, or self-employed.

At the June meeting we had a great time exploring all the businesses located under the umbrella of the Design House - very diverse and superb quality!  There was not enough time though to see it all as the excellent food at Demon Catering lured us away.  I'm sure most of us will want to go back - I certainly will be going for a shopping trip soon.

We have been listening to your comments and ideas in the questionnaire and will be putting some of these ideas to test in the coming months.  This meeting we piloted moving places between courses so that we all get to know and talk with more people and it worked very well indeed.

Anni Cole Hamilton led an interesting discussion on topics that hinder or benefit our businesses in the Highlands, based on the results of the brainstorm session last month.  See here for a summary of the findings.

Our next meeting will be a Summer Barbeque at Maggie's Highland with a very entertaining talk by Willie Cameron.  The food will be provided by Crown Deli - and anyone who was at our barbeque last year will remember how excellent that was!

Raffle prizes for this meeting are kindly donated by Lip Ink and Press and Journal - with many thanks!

Araveli wins Best British Newcomer Award!
Araveli, in the Victorian Market, was launched on 31st May 2008 by HBWC member Ruth Ralph , who was among four hundred guests at the glittering undisputed premier gift industry awards affectionately known as The Greats at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel where she picked up the prestigious award.

The Greats recognise and celebrate not only the top independent and multiple gift retailers regionally and nationally, but also the new breed of gift retailers as well as outstanding retail employees.

To celebrate Araveli’s award and a successful 1st Year of Trading, for two days only on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th of June the shop will have at least 20% discount off all goods. Please come along and join us in the celebrations! More info..

We want your feedback
Our annual questionnaire will be closing soon and a summary of the results will be made available here... so watch this space!

Fundraising efforts have paid off
At the April meeting a cheque for £7,000 was presented to last year's nominated charity: Maggie's Highland Cancer Care Centre.  Past President Jackie Cuddy handed over the Club’s cheque and Carole Bridge, manager of Maggie’s Highland told Club members how important she had found “the opportunity to raise the profile of Maggie’s.
Members have been so supportive of our efforts this year which has resulted in us raising the most money ever for our nominated charity”.

The Inverness and District Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre is the chosen charity to be supported by the HBWC in 2009/2010

Women in Business Event

The Club

The Highland Business Women's Club was established in 1995 and has over 150 members. We currently have around 90 individual members and 13 corporate members. Corporate Members take annual membership, which allows up to five of their employees to attend any monthly meeting.

The Club is made up of women who are business owners, in employment, or self-employed. We are a dynamic group encompassing a broad range of expertise in a diverse array of businesses and look forward to meeting new members.

Our aims:

"Network - Share - Impact"

We provide an opportunity for women at work and in business to network.

We share experiences and knowledge.

We create a positive impact on the Highland business community by raising the profile of our members within and beyond our network.
