Annual Awards

The Highland Business Women Club Annual Awards for women in business takes place each year.

There are 3 categories:

Award 1:  HBWC Professional Business Woman of the Year (employee)
Award 2:  HBWC Business Woman of the Year (Director / Self-employed)
Award 3:  HBWC Most Enterprising Business of the Year (This is chosen with a focus on those who have developed a new business idea regardless of the time they have been in business.)

This event is the highlight of our calendar.  We introduced the Awards some years ago, not only to celebrate success, but also to identify role models to inspire and motivate other women in the Highlands.  Winners each year present their business and personal track-records in presentations to demonstrate how they have been chosen as excellent examples of what dedication, inspiring leadership and belief in an idea can lead to in a challenging world.

The awards are open to all business and professional women who are member of the HWBC and celebrates the success and achievement of women working across all sectors.

This event is an ideal opportunity to showcase you and your business by nominating yourself for one of the Club's Annual Awards. The prize winners will each receive a cheque for £500 as well as free publicity for themselves and their business. Alternatively, scan the list of members on the HBWC website for someone you feel is a suitable candidate for an award and nominate them yourself.

The winner of the Most Enterprising Business category will go forward as the Club's nomination for the Most Enterprising Business Award at the Association of Scottish Businesswomen Awards Dinner to be held later in the year. The 2006 winner, Jacquie Edwards, also went on to make an appearance on the Dragon's Den Programme on BBC2.

There are no restrictions with regard to nominees in previous years (including previous winners) putting themselves forward for this year's Awards. Everyone is a potential winner so get nominating!

Past President Morag Robertson acknowledged the support of key sponsors for the March 2006 Annual Awards Dinner: "Whilst their financial sponsorship is extremely important to us, equally valuable is the fact that such leading organisations commit their time as well as money in support of our aims and objectives. We are also grateful to all the organisations and companies which helped make, not only the Awards Dinner, but the whole event such a success."
"The range and calibre of entries for the Awards increases year on year and the judges have to work very hard to arrive at a winner. ."
